How to follow up on a quote without sounding desperate
2026-10-27 · 5 min
The quote follow-up is the most valuable email most small businesses never send. Here is the version that gets replies.
When
Three working days after the quote, unless the customer named a date. Earlier reads as pushy; later and you have been forgotten.
What
One line that refers to the thing, one question that is easy to answer. Not “just checking in”. Not a restatement of your value.
Hi Emma, checking in on the website proposal. Is there anything you’d like changed before you decide?
Hi Mateo, the quote for 40 boxes is still good until Friday. Shall I hold the stock?
Hi Sophie, no rush on the menu proposal. If the timing isn’t right, say so and I’ll check back next month.
The second nudge
A week after the first. Shorter. Give them an out: “If this isn’t the right time, just say and I’ll close the file.” People reply to that line because it costs them nothing.
When to let software send it
Quote nudges are the one follow-up with a known rhythm and low risk. In Augurfield every draft waits for a person by default; an owner can switch on the quote nudge after a set number of days, for quotes only, and switch it off any time. Everything else, a person sends.
